User Reviews of VintOS
"VintOS is basically a standard 32Bit Manjaro installation with the Numix theme. While I am not crazy about these modern "Flat themes", it is consistent and has a professional look and feel to it. What gives it a touch of class is the additional theme matching wallpapers which are bundled in. You have the ability to change the icon themes, there 3 in the Numix flavors to choose from and you also get the standard Faenza themes which ship with Manjaro.
The standard compliment of software which normally ships with Manjaro is included with this. Vintalorian decided to add some additional software and features with this edition. This edition has the COMPLETE Libre office suite where Manjaro normally does not ship with all Libre Office components. This also has Kdenlive installed by default which has most of the components you will need to get started with. For DV handling you will need to install extra components. Another thing that caught my eye is that an email notifier has been added to the panel for those of you who use a software solution for email.
My analysis shows that this OS uses 370 megs of RAM once fully loaded and it ships with Manjaro Kernel 3.14. I believe it is the intention of the developer to create an OS sufficient for legacy hardware.
Manjaro and derivatives such as this are designed to be user friendly, that said I would only suggest this to beginners who are technically minded and do not mind reading through documentation to get passed the learning curve required. I would suggest this OS to any PC owner who has an older machine with at least 500 megs of ram.
I would have liked to have seen a 64 bit version of this OS. I am sure Vint had his reasoning for only developing 32 bit at this time. I will consider showcasing this edition in my NEXT Manjaro Roundup video.
Vintalorian, You did a good job on this and I look forward to seeing where you go with this! Cheers!"
